Before Your Wedding
3-2-1 Contact!
Most people get the ball rollin’ by sending me an email to say hello and tell me about their upcoming wedding (i.e. the date, the location, the number of Elvis impersonators, etc).
Discussion
After the initial hello, we’ll discuss your needs and desires in much more detail. I’m all ears at this point! I want to learn everything about you, from the first time you met to the unique faces you make when you’re laughing. Most of my events have been destination weddings so I often don’t meet the couple in-person until I arrive. But if you’re local to Hampton Roads, I’m always game for some coffee (and by coffee, I mean ice cream).
Contract
After discussing the details, I’ll provide you a contract that outlines everything we’ve discussed. You can either sign it or fold it into a paper hat and pretend you’re the captain of a supertanker sailing through the Panama Canal (unfortunately, I won’t be able to take your photos in the latter case). I’m a product of the unrestrictive digital revolution, and my contract will grant you the rights to print, email, upload, sell, or do whatever the heck you want with your photographs.
Engagement Session
All my weddings come with a complimentary engagement session taken “on location” in the area. In fact, it’s mandatory if you’re local! The engagement session is your first opportunity to start building trust in me, and for me to start learning about your personalities and how to best document them. The session is totally low-key with absolutely no pressure and it’s intended to be fun! (And not the kind of fun your mom promised when you had to go to your bratty cousin’s birthday party and wear that awkward sundress *shudder*.) Let’s head downtown and let you two play sidewalk supermodels. Or head to the beach for a sunset stroll. If it’s too cold when you book your wedding, springtime will be right around the corner. No time pressure.
Engagement Photos and Event Cards
After your engagement session, I’ll provide you with proofs of the photos and any other products we’ve agreed upon. Every wedding package comes with a set of event cards for you to distribute to your guests. These cards feature a photo from your engagement session and contain all the details your guests will want about viewing your wedding photos. (the link, the login information, etc). Typically, these cards are placed on the tables where your guests are sitting for dinner, though you’re free to do whatever you’d like with them. (It ain’t my wedding, now, is it?)
