Old Town Alexandria is one of my favorite locations for portraits. It’s a beautiful spot, of course, but what inspires me most about traversing the cobblestones with my cameras are all the sentimental memories I have of the couples and families I’ve photographed in Old Town over the past decade. Naturally, I was pretty excited to build even more memories with Abby and Matt during their recent engagement portrait session.
We began our afternoon near the Hotel Monaco, before meandering toward the more secluded nooks in the surrounding area. As we explored the newly blooming foliage, we were approached by a gentleman who invited us into his beautiful, hidden garden. The architecture and garden were meticulous and manicured, and we could’ve easily spent an entire afternoon right there in his backyard. I’d noticed the nearby Carlyle House was in full bloom as well, however, so we bid adieu to the secret garden and wrapped up our time by the Carlyle gazebo.
Thanks for sharing a beautiful afternoon with me in Old Town, Abby & Matt. π
Update: here are some photos from Abby & Matt’s beach wedding in Sandbridge, VA.
