J&D spent several years criss-crossing around the US before settling down in Virginia. Here are some images from J&D’s Smithfield Station and Windsor Castle Park Wedding in Smithfield, VA.
Jessica and Daniel met in Williamsburg while studying at the College of William and Mary. After graduating, the two moved to Huntington Beach, California, where they got engaged during a sailing trip off the coast of Long Beach. Work and Daniel’s family brought the two to Arizona, but since Jessica grew up sailing with her family around Smithfield, VA, they decided to have their wedding at Windsor Castle Park.
The day began at Smithfield Station, where the wedding party and most of the guests were staying. Jessica and Daniel were excited to utilize as much time for portraits as possible, so they elected to have a “first look” at the Smithfield Station lighthouse before the ceremony. The two spent a few quiet moments together, away from everyone else, and then we hopped in a car and drove to downtown Smithfield for some portraits of the two along Main Street. We then made our way to Windsor Castle Park for some additional photos of the couple with the rustic barns, before hiding everyone away as the guests began to arrive.
As the ceremony neared, Jessica boarded a boat in the Smithfield Station marina and sailed down the Pagan River toward Windsor Castle Park with her bridal party. At the same time, Daniel walked with his groomsmen from Smithfield Station toward Windsor Castle Park. Once the guests were seated, Jessica and Daniel met in the middle and began walking down the aisle to exchange vows.
After the ceremony, the couple treated their guests to an upscale take on southern staples like shrimp and grits. The Janitors kept the party going late, with several bridesmaids hopping onstage to join them. And then the couple exited Windsor Castle Park amid a crazy sparklers finale. They spent the night in the illustrious Lighthouse Suite at Smithfield Station before Daniel whisked Jessica away on a super-secret honeymoon trip to Australia that he planned entirely behind Jessica’s back.
