K&R gathered for engagement photos at the edge of Wigwam Point in the Annisquam neighborhood of Gloucester, Massachusetts — about an hour north of Boston (when traffic is kind ;). The lighthouse stands at the mouth of the harbor, overlooking gentle water and a run of rocky shoreline. Quiet and close to the tides, this stretch of Cape Ann has the feel of a secret hideaway.
Our evening began along grassy trails and the old stone walls that wind their way to the water. Early June along this part of the coast means long daylight and weather that feels just perfect. We let the shapes of the giant trees lead us toward the shoreline, and used the natural sunlight to direct us. The lighthouse kept watch in the distance as boats slipped past and the evening stayed warm.
The rocks supporting the lighthouse are worn by decades of salt air and tide. K&R climbed slowly, stopping where the beautiful, golden-hour light opened up across the harbor.
