City engergy paired with modern design
Some weddings unfold in one place. This one evolved. Through neighborhoods, light shifts, architectural backdrops, and an energy that kept building. From a quiet start at the Renaissance Chicago to skyline toasts atop Ignite Glass Studios, the day was a celebration of Chicago as well.
We started at the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel, where morning light spilled through floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river. The skyline stretched out just beyond the glass, and the hum of the city felt like part of the soundtrack.
For their first look, we stepped into one of the hotel’s most striking features: a black-and-white stairwell lit like a modern art exhibit. Bold lines and dramatic contrast gave the moment an artistic vibe.
We then moved on to portraits along the Kinzie Street Bridge, where the skyline rose behind J&A and passing river cruises turned into cheering squads.
At Ignite Glass Studios, the ceremony unfolded on the rooftop, with open sky above and city energy all around. You could feel the shift: from morning calm to celebratory lift-off. Guests were welcomed by music and skyline views, then ushered into a garden cocktail hour below.
As the evening progressed, we transitioned from the garden to the gallery. A mix of glowing glasswork, candlelight, and geometric accents welcomed everyone into the space.
The evening brought heartfelt toasts, a few unexpected mic drops, and the dance moves that only appear after the third glass of champagne.
One of my favorite aspects of the day was the way Chicago was such an important part of it without stealing the spotlight. J&A let the city show up where it mattered: big views, bursting with personality, and experiences that could only happen here. But what grounded the day most was how present the couple stayed with each other, wherever the day took them.
