Of all the Norfolk wedding venues, the Chrysler Museum of Art remains one of the most timeless. I’ve worked Chrysler events for over a decade, and every time I walk into Huber Court, it still takes my breath away. There’s a sense of scale and refinement that just doesn’t exist anywhere else nearby. For couples who want elegance, and images that feel classic, not trendy, The Chrysler Museum delivers every time.
Huber Court is the museum’s main event space, and it’s easy to see why. With its limestone arches, sweeping double staircase, and light-filled atrium, the room strikes the perfect balance between historical architecture and modern simplicity. It feels grand without feeling cold — an ideal setting for both ceremonies and receptions. The natural light makes it especially lovely during late summer evenings, and the clean lines let any floral or design vision shine.
One of the things I love most about Chrysler Museum weddings is the range of portrait settings available within just a few steps. The museum garden offers a quiet, romantic backdrop with its fountain and soft natural light. Inside, the Contemporary Galleries bring a totally different mood — bold, modern, and unexpected. Whether you want timeless or editorial, there’s space to explore both without leaving the property. It’s a dream for couples who care about their photos and want variety without the logistics of moving locations.
Because the museum is open to the public during the day, weddings begin after hours — usually with setup starting around 6 p.m. Some couples choose to hold their ceremony elsewhere and use the Chrysler for the reception. If you’re hosting both on site, the ceremony and reception typically take place in Huber Court, with a room flip during cocktail hour.
Cocktail hour is often held in Mary’s Garden or inside the Ancient Worlds and Porcelain Galleries. The transition is handled quickly and smoothly, but it’s something to consider when building your timeline. With a great planner and creative team in place, the flow feels seamless — and the visual payoff is absolutely worth it.
