An evening ceremony and after-party at Norfolk’s iconic museum
O&J gathered friends and family at Norfolk’s Chrysler Museum of Art for a March celebration built on contrast and intention. Working with planner and designer Carrie Lauck of Happy Hour Hostess, the couple shaped an evening that honored the museum’s Renaissance arches and marble accents with a palette of black, gold, and candlelight.
The quiet hours gave way to an afternoon of final details as the Chrysler transformed for the evening ahead.
O&J exchanged vows beneath the museum’s double staircase as light filtered in from above. Isha Foss Design designed the floral work, from the installation anchoring the aisle to the arrangements framing each row. Richmond Harpist Christina Thomas performed contemporary hits on harp, bringing a modern undercurrent to the classical space.
While guests moved to cocktails, O&J stepped into the museum’s permanent collection for portraits. The Chrysler’s soaring ceilings and marble columns offered clean lines and soft light at every turn.
Carrie Lauck reimagined the space for dinner, with glowing candlelight and black and white linens matching the dramatic chairs. Taste Catering elevated the experience with hand-rolled sushi prepared in real-time and passed hors d’oeuvres presented on embroidered tea towels naming each dish.
Guests crowded the stage, singing every word as Philly’s Finest band took control of the reception.
The museum transformed once more as DJ Carneyval stepped behind the turntables. Known for sets spanning underground clubs and festivals, Carneyval brought the same energy to the Chrysler’s marble halls as the after-party began.
What followed felt closer to a Boiler Room set than a wedding after-party. Guests crowded the DJ booth, reaching for headphones and taking turns on the decks as Carneyval led the party into the early morning.
From portraits in the galleries to vows beneath the staircase, to Huber court transformed into a nightclub, O&J’s wedding stretched across every corner of the museum.
